Praise and Divine Healing Crusade was held again through live-stream program on Facebook and YouTube on Thursday, May 28, 2020. The Word of God was delivered by Rev. Jacob B. Sumbayak. It was taken from Matthew 10:29-31 “(29) Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care. (30) And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. (31) So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.” (NIV)
Jesus Truly Cares for You
Jesus often gives insights through nature. He gives an understanding of how valuable humans are, starting from the sparrows that were sold for a penny which means that it was very cheap. Even now, it’s still cheap, especially two thousand years ago, when there were more bird populations than humans, they must have been very cheap.
Jesus said that even though it was very cheap, even one could not fall to earth if the Father in heaven did not want it. So, only for a very cheap bird, Father in heaven cares very much. Nothing can fall without the Father in heaven knowing it.
What does Jesus mean by giving this understanding? Because Jesus wants to say that He loves us very much. Maybe we have friends who care so much for us. However, no one can match Jesus because none of our friends knows the amount of hair on our heads. Jesus knows our condition in great detail, just the amount of our hair can be calculated by God. The average number of our hair is 100 thousand strands, how many are fallen or uprooted today, no friends can know, even we don’t know about it.
Once again, Jesus wants to tell us that He really cares for us. Therefore, do not be afraid, while falling sparrows must be known by God, moreover we are far more valuable than sparrows. Psalm 139: 16 says, “Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.” (NIV) That is, while still a fetus in the womb, still very small, incomplete shape, no hands or feet, but the eyes of God have seen it. Even mothers who have a fetus cannot see it, let alone their father (except when on ultrasound at the hospital when the fetus is already rather large).
The Word of God in Psalm 139: 13 says, “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.” (NIV)God wants to tell that we are known by God since we were in the womb of our mothers. God really knows how we are woven in our mother’s womb. It is amazing. Do we realize that God knows us very well? When we were woven in our mother’s womb, God knows and as we grow up, He knows the amount of hair on our heads. Who can be like this? Psalm 139:2-3 says, “You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. (3) You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways” (NV) Maybe we have friends, but who cares about us like Jesus? If we have problems, surely God knows, if we have struggles about parents, children, or about work, surely God knows about it. Don’t worry, you are more valuable than a bird.
One more thing, is there a friend who wants to give his life? None, but the Lord Jesus would give His life. Maybe someone wants to die for another good person, but Jesus died for us while we were still sinners. Not only He cares by providing us food and drinks and clothing, or physically know the amount of hair on our heads or pays attention since we are in the womb. Most extraordinarily, Jesus died to bear our sins. Who wants to do as Jesus did? He was tortured, humiliated, became victims in order to atone for our sins.
God’s Word says, there is one person who wants to do it, His name is Jesus. He descended from heaven, emptied himself, and gave His life. God really cares about us, we only know the hair on our heads, especially our problems. Isaiah 53: 5 says: “ But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed. (NIV)
What did He do for us? He was tortured, stabbed, beaten to death, a sacrifice to pay for the sins of you and me. John 3:16 says: “ For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (NIV) Whoever believes in this preaching, that Jesus died on the cross atoned for our sins, then he will not perish, but be saved, and have eternal life. Will you make the decision to truly believe in Jesus?
Jesus Is Compassionate and He Wants to Heal You
For those of you who have believed in Jesus, you are called as the children of God. Welcome to God’s royal family. Our status is no joke, we are truly the children of God. There is one more thing that God will give us, namely healing. If you are sick or have struggles, or pain that cannot be healed, such as Covid-19 for which there is no vaccine or cancer, blindness, or stroke. Jesus is able to heal you.
He healed sicknesses in the past, now He is still the same. Let’s read Luke 7: 11-15, Jesus raised a young man in Nain. This is our Lord Jesus Christ who is merciful. Luke 7:13-14, “(13) When the Lord saw her, his heart went out to her and he said, “Don’t cry.” (14) Then he went up and touched the bier they were carrying him on, and the bearers stood still. He said, “Young man, I say to you, get up!” (NIV) Brothers and sisters, have faith in Jesus that He will heal you as long as you believe in Him. [YF/EM]
