The Word of God was delivered by Rev. Jacob B. Sumbayak taken from Mark 12: 41-44, about the offering of a poor widow.

The Offering Which Touched God’s Heart

Once Jesus sat in the temple of God faced the treasury and noticed how the people put money into it. Many rich people threw in large amounts. Then came a poor widow and she put two mites, namely one money.
In those days, mites were the smallest units of money, metal coins made of light copper. Just two mites were counted as one money. Because of this small unit of money, we Indonesians, even if we do not have money, we will say we do not have a mite. We can equate the smallest unit of coin at that time with the unit of coin today, consisting of coins worth Rp. 100, Rp. 200, Rp. 500 or Rp. 1,000.
Let us say we take a coin that is worth Rp. 1,000, meaning 2 coins equals Rp. 2,000.
At that time there were no banknotes, so all currencies were in the form of coins. While the treasury was made of metal. So if a rich person put the offerings with a larger unit, the coins would be heavier because they were made of silver. So if you put it into the treasury then the sound are very loud. While this poor widow gave very light coins, so if you put them into the treasury, they might not sound since it is very light.
Those who were rich gave from their abundance. But this poor widow gave from all her shortcomings, that is, from all of her living. Let us say she gave Rp. 2,000 if converted to Rupiah. The amount did not even reach the wage of one day. But those were all she had and those all of her income at that day. She gave everything. The thing like this was noticed by the Lord Jesus. That was why He called His disciples to teach specifically about this.
The kingdom of heaven is like this, which talks about heart earnestness, self-offering and sincerity. How much we give from the deepest hearts, that is what God sees.
The act of this widow really touched God’s hearts, so the Lord Jesus said that this widow gave more to the Kingdom of Heaven than all the people who gave at that time.

Jesus Knows and Cares for You

God is very detailed and very knowledgeable about us. He knows us one by one. Matthew 10:30 says that even the very hairs of you head are all numbered. According to research, there are around 100,000 hairs on the human’s head. And Jesus knows exactly how many strands of our hairs. That is a sign that God really cares of us.
Even the Word of God says that even when we were in our mother’s womb, we were already known by God. Psalm 139: 13 says, “For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb.”
When we were formed in our mother’s womb, God knew and cared for us. So none of us were born into this world coincidentally.
Everything is in God’s plan. And God wants us to know Him.
You might have a problem. Do not think God does not know it. He knows and really cares about you and me. Jesus said that He can count the hairs on our heads. Jesus knew what had happened to the poor widow who gave the offering. Jesus also knew that Zhakeus went up to the tree and then called his name. Jesus also knew when the Samaritan woman who said, “I have no husband,” but God said, “Yes, you do not have a husband because what you have now is not your husband.”
Jesus knows about us. Will we believe in Him? Jesus is the Son of God who came down from Heaven and wanted to be born into this earth and even born in a despicable sheepfold. He became an ordinary person, the son of a carpenter. But He came to be our penance. He loves us. We have debt of sins which we can not pay, for the wages of sin is death. But God paid the debt for our sins.

In The Name of Jesus There Is Healing

John 3:16 says: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever who believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
2,000 years ago Jesus healed all diseases and raised the dead. Even today, whoever believes in Him gets healing. The Word of God says, “By His stripes we are healed.”
Luke 6: 17-19 tells of many people who came to Jesus. They came to listen to Him and to be healed from their diseases,
also those who were demon-possessed got healing. And all the people were trying to touch Him, because there was power coming out of Him and He healed them all.
They came to listen to Jesus, just as we do now. They also came to be cured, just like us. Come to Jesus, then Jesus will heal us. Those who were demon-possessed also cured by the Lord Jesus.
Because Jesus has power. In Jesus there is the healing. Come to Jesus and He will heal us. God sees our faith. [RH/EM]
