The online KPPI (Praise and Divine Healing Service) took place on Monday, March 8, 2021 through a Live Streaming program that can be watched on Facebook, YouTube and Instagram. The Word of God was delivered by Rev. Jacob B. Sumbayak, taken from Matthew 8: 5-13 about Jesus healing the servant of a centurion in Capernaum.
Jesus Answered the Faith of a Gentile Centurion
This Roman centurion was not just an ordinary person, and also not an ordinary soldier. He was already a senior, it will take at least 15-20 years to be able to occupy this position, and he was in charge of 100 subordinates. This centurion was also a brave man because when he went to war, he had to be at the forefront. In addition, he was also rich because the salary of an officer was about 15 times the salary of an ordinary soldier. But he came to Lord Jesus, humbled himself, and asked, saying, “Lord, my servant is lying at home paralyzed, dreadfully tormented.” (Matthew 8: 6). This centurion came because he loved his servant very much, even though he was not a Jew.
Jesus responded very well and said, “I will come to heal him.” But what did the centurion answer? But the centurion answered and said, “Lord, I am not worthy that You should come under my roof. But only speak a word, and my servant will be healed. (Matthew 8:8)
This centurion saw Jesus so highly, that he did not deserve to receive Jesus into his house. So he only asked Jesus to speak a word and there was no need for Jesus to bother him that much. So this officer said: “But only speak a word, and my servant will be healed.”
Although he was not a Jew, this officer believed in Jesus. He knew Jesus was the Most High who had great power. ” For I also am a man under authority, having soldiers under me. And I say to this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes; and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”(Matthew 8: 9)
He knew exactly what is authority. He imagined that Jesus holds the highest authority, therefore He only need to say one word and his servant would be healed. When Jesus heard it, He marveled, and said to those who followed, “Assuredly, I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel! (Matthew 8:10)
This centurion was non -Israelite, he was not living in the Synagogue, even he was a Roman. But even such people believed in Jesus. Then Jesus said, “And I say to you that many will come from east and west, and sit down with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven. (Matthew 8:11) Many people will believe in Jesus from everywhere, from the West and from the East, and will sit down with Abraham, Jacob, and of course, with Jesus.
Because of his great faith, Jesus pleasingly fulfilled his faith. Jesus only spoke one ward, then his servant in a far distant place was instantly healed. Even Jesus did not say, “Be healed.” Then Jesus said to the centurion, “Go your way; and as you have believed, so let it be done for you.” And his servant was healed that same hour. (Matthew 8:13)
If You Confess You Believe In Jesus Then You Will Be Saved
Who is saved and will not be cast into darkness? Only the believers, people who believe in Jesus.
Maybe you are struggling to believe, so now just believe, like this Roman centurion. Jesus is the Most High God. This will take place when you decide to believe, He is able to help you from your problems. He has the power to forgive sins and is able to heal you.
He paid the price when He died on the cross and His blood was shed to pay for our sins. Believe in Him with all your heart, with all your soul and you will have a peace that you have never felt before.
Jesus redeemed us not with wealth, not with anything, but with His own life. His death makes us gain eternal life and His bruises make us healed.
How Can We Be Saved?
Romans 10:9-10, “.. that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation. “
Let us believe. Today is a good opportunity. Take action with your mouth that Jesus is Lord. Believe that He died on the cross and that He is God in power. And if we believe and accept Him then we will be saved.
By His Stripes We Are Healed
For God’s children who want to be healed, this is an opportunity to receive miracles.
Isaiah 53:5, “But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.”
Jesus’ bruises were the stripes all over His body because He was tortured before He was crucified. But it is by His stripes that we are healed. This is the word of God that we can hold on to.
Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
Jesus Chris is the same, His power remains the same yesterday, today, and forever. So not only when Jesus was on this earth, He was in power. Even now Jesus is able to heal because He never changed, He can still heal us. Believe in God and accept miracles. [rs/hn/em]
