The Online Program of KPPI (Praise and Divine Healing Service) was held on Thursday, April 8, 2021. It was a live-streaming program that could be watched through Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram. The Word of God was delivered by Rev. Jacob B. Sumbayak, Luke 23:50-56 about the burial of Jesus and Luke 24 :1-6 about the resurrection of Jesus.
After Being Tortured and Crucified, Jesus Really Died and Was Buried
Luke 23:50-56
Now behold, there was a man named Joseph, a council member, a good and just man. He had not consented to their decision and deed. He was from Arimathea, a city of the Jews, who himself was also waiting for the kingdom of God. This man went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. Then he took it down, wrapped it in linen, and laid it in a tomb that was hewn out of the rock, where no one had ever lain before. That day was the Preparation, and the Sabbath drew near. And the women who had come with Him from Galilee followed after, and they observed the tomb and how His body was laid. Then they returned and prepared spices and fragrant oils. And they rested on the Sabbath according to the commandment.
We continue the Word of God from the previous KPPI service about Jesus who suffered and died on the cross to atone for sins. Jesus really suffered from being tortured before He was hung on the cross. He was scourged so many times, he was spat on, insulted, mocked, and His garments were cast by lots. Being treated as a big criminal, Jesus was sentenced to death as He was crucified. And Jesus really died.
His disciples witnessed the death of Jesus. They witnessed that Jesus was really dead. They saw the body of Jesus being wrapped in linen cloths and laid in the tomb. And a large stone was rolled over to cover His grave.
Luke 23:55, “And the women who had come with Him from Galilee followed after, and they observed the tomb and how His body was laid.”
The women were Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the other women who were with them (Luke 24:10). These female disciples from Galilee became witnesses to the death of Jesus.
They loved Jesus so much. In Matthew 27: 61, we read that Mary Magdalene and the other Mary, who lived there, were sitting opposite the tomb. They were very sad because they lost Jesus. They came from various backgrounds, but all have been saved by Jesus. Now their beloved Jesus was dead, so they were very sad.
These disciples became witnesses to the death of Jesus. The witness was not just one person, but there were several disciples, so their testimony was valid.
Then they returned and prepared spices and perfume for the body of Jesus. Why did they prepare all this? Firstly, because they were very sad. Secondly, because they did not remember that Jesus would rise again. Even though Jesus had already told them what would happen to Him, but because of their sadness, their minds closed.
On the Third Day, Jesus Did Rise from the Dead
Luke 24: 1-6
Now on the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they, and certain other women with them, came to the tomb bringing the spices which they had prepared. But they found the stone rolled away from the tomb. Then they went in and did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. And it happened, as they were greatly perplexed about this, that behold, two men stood by them in shining garments. Then, as they were afraid and bowed their faces to the earth, they said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen! Remember how He spoke to you when He was still in Galilee“.
Early the next morning, the female disciples came to Jesus’ tomb with spices and did not find Jesus’ body. So two angels came and rebuked them, saying, “Why do you seek the living among the dead?” This angels then reminded the disciples what Jesus had said before. At last they remembered, their mind opened again and became aware that Jesus had risen.
Jesus told them three times beforehand of the things that would happen, namely that the Son of Man must be handed over to sinners and crucified, and will rise on the third day. But because the disciples were deeply grieved, both male and female, they forgot what Jesus said.
Jesus is alive. He rose from the dead, He was not in His tomb, He had risen. This is real. The resurrection of Jesus from the dead is as real as you are currently looking at your gadget or computer and watching this KPPI program. He is alive. He rose on the third day. According to the Word of God, these disciples became witnesses that Jesus had risen from the dead.
Jesus Rose and Was Ascended to Heaven, Becomes the Way for Believers to Enter Heaven
Why did Jesus rise? Because He is the Son of God who is powerful, and while living on earth, He never sinned, so that the grave and the death could not hold Him. Jesus died on the cross to atone for our sins and He has risen from the dead to overcome death. So, if you believe that He died to atone for our sins and He has risen, then you can be sure your sins are forgiven. You can also be sure that if you die, you can also be resurrected, because Jesus gave the example.
That is Jesus. Will you believe in Him? If you want to go to Heaven, believe in the Person who has risen from the dead. This is a reality. No dead person can rise and go to Heaven except Jesus. Because He really came from Heaven, so He knows the way to Heaven. He who will raise us from the dead will take us to Heaven.
John 14: 6, “Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
Jesus is the way to Heaven. Trust in Jesus, ask forgiveness for all your sins, then you will have a guarantee of salvation.
For those of you who have believed, if today you want to be healed, believe in Jesus. He is able to heal you. All you need to have is faith.
Isaiah 53:5, “But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.”
Before Jesus was crucified, He was tortured, scourged many times until he had stripes. But by His stripes, we are healed. Two thousand years ago, He healed all diseases, including those who were possessed by demons, and even Lazarus who died four days was raised up again. Lay your hands on the part of the body that is sick, believe you will be healed today. [yf/hn/em]
