The online KPPI (Praise and Divine Healing Service) was held again on Thursday, August 6, 2020 through live Streaming program on Facebook, YouTube and Instagram.
The Word of God was delivered by Rev. Jacob B. Sumbayak, taken from Mark 9: 2-9 about the transfiguration of Jesus.
The Transfiguration of Christ
This miraculous event was a very big miracle because Jesus was glorified. Jesus was full of all extraordinary glory, and this was seen by his three disciples. This was one of the great events in the ministry of Jesus. These three disciples saw not only Jesus, but also Moses and Elijah. Moses was a great prophet who was used by God to part the sea and bring down the Law. Elijah was the great prophet in the Old Testament who asked fire to come down from heaven and it came down to burn all the offerings that were meant for God. Also prayed that the rain would not fall, and for 3.5 years the rain did not fall. And he prayed again then it rained again. Elijah was also a prophet who ascended to heaven without passing through death, was picked up by chariots and horses that went directly to heaven.
These two great prophets met Jesus, and when that happened, it was seen that the three disciples of Jesus saw immense glory. His clothes were so shiny white, that the Word of God said “His clothes became shining, exceedingly white, like snow, such as no launderer on earth can whiten them.” How did Peter, James and John feel seeing this? Surely they were shocked and there was fear and joy, because they met God in His glory. Of course they didn’t want to get out of that atmosphere, until Peter said he wanted to build three tents for Jesus, Elijah and Moses, and they were there.
The glory they saw was the one that Jesus actually had when He was in Heaven, before coming to this earth. This glory is also what we will see when Jesus as the Messiah, as the Son of God will rule as King forever, and we are His people.
So this is a very big happening and Jesus allowed three of His disciples to be witnesses. There was also a great happening that happened when He rose from the dead. When He was resurrected, He appeared to his disciples, and more than 500 people saw it (1 Cor 15: 6). When He ascended into heaven, there were eleven disciples who watched it (Mark 16:14). Also when He was transfigured, there were three of His disciples who saw and became witnesses. This is more than enough.
Jesus is Greater than All Prophets
And while Peter was offering to make tents, a cloud came over them, and a voice came from within the cloud, “This is my beloved Son, listen to him.” God the Father in Heaven spoke and was heard by the three disciples of Jesus. It is clear that Jesus is greater than the Old Testament prophets because He is the Son of God. The Son of God is God Himself, the Word Himself who was willing to come down to earth to become flesh just like us. He has the same flesh and blood as us, went through childhood, adolescence, adulthood. Jesus also had to eat, rest and sleep, just like an ordinary man. Because He is just like humans, He also knows human suffering. Jesus often called Himself Son of Man which means God who became man.
Why did Jesus want to become human? Because He wanted to atone for our sins. He was tortured and crucified to death. The Word of God in Luke 9: 30-31 says, “And behold, two men talked with Him, who were Moses and Elijah, who appeared in glory and spoke of His [c]decease which He was about to accomplish at Jerusalem.” Jesus knew that He would die on the cross for the sins of mankind, He had to become a sin offering. Because everyone has sinned and no one can atone for his own sin.
As the Word of God in Isaiah 64:6 says that all our righteousness is like filthy rags, it has no worth. Because of that, Jesus came to earth, He left His great glory in Heaven which was seen by Peter, James and John. Why? For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. (John 3:16).
Will we now believe in Jesus? Only Jesus can atone for human sins. He redeemed us with His own life and blood. It is not us who make sacrifices, but God who sacrifices for us because He loves us so much. He longs for us to be saved, to be forgiven, to have assurance of salvation. Entrust ourselves to Jesus, believe in Him, if we believe then we will not be punished, but will be saved and have eternal life with our Father in Heaven.
Jesus Is Able to Heal You
Believe that Jesus, who is the Messiah, can also heal you. Jesus healed the blind, the lame, the lepers, the deaf-mute, and even raised the dead. Jesus is still the same, now He can also do miracles. Isaiah 53: 5 says, “But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.” Jesus was scourged and had stripes, but by those stripes we are healed. Believe in this Word of God, this Word of God is powerful as long as we have faith in Him. [YF/EM]
