The online KPPI (Praise and Divine Healing Service) took place again on Monday, August 31, 2020 through the Live Streaming program on Facebook, YouTube and Instagram.

The Word of God was delivered by Rev. Jacob B. Sumbayak, taken from Mark 7: 31 – 37 about Jesus healing a deaf man.

Jesus Heals a Deaf Man

Jesus was in the region of the Decapolis at that time, this was not Israel’s territory. People brought to him a deaf man who had a stutter and asked him to lay his hands on him there. This person could hear nothing nor could speak, a very difficult condition. Blind people could still hear the news about Jesus healing many sick people, but this man was deaf and mute and never heard anything about Jesus. It could be that this person was not an Israelite, because in the region of Tire, Jesus had healed the daughter of a Syro-Phoenician woman who was not an Israelite.

In verse 33 it says: “And after Jesus had separated him from the crowd so that they were alone, he put his finger in the man’s ear, and he spat and touched his tongue”. A person who was previously stuttering, or mute, and deaf, after Jesus prayed and He performed a miracle, so that this person could hear and speak well.

They were amazed and dumbfounded and said, “He made everything good, He made the deaf hear, and made mute speak.” Praise God, Jesus performed miracles and this time it was quite unique. There are many ways that Jesus performed miracles, sometimes speaking from afar, or sometimes just speaking a word in one place and people being healed in another, like the daughter of a Syrophoenician woman. This time Jesus did it by putting His finger in the man’s ear, then He spat and touched the man’s tongue. After that Jesus looked up to heaven, sighed and said to him, “Efata!”, Which means: Be open! A miracle happened, the man’s ears opened, and immediately the strap of his tongue was released, then he spoke well.

Jesus is the Miracle Maker Because He is the Son of God

Jesus is a miracle maker because He is the Son of God. He is the Word of God Himself. But He came to the world as a human, simple, just like us, so that He knows our suffering. He went up to the cross to atone for our sins. He is the Messiah, the Son of God, that is capable to do miracles. He was able to raise Lazarus who had been four days dead and stunk. He was able to feed five thousand people with just five loaves and two fish. He was able to stop a storm with just two words, “Peace” and “Be” Still, even the One that healed Bartimaeus, and many more of miracles that the Lord Jesus did.

Will we now believe in the Lord Jesus? Maybe all this time we are looking for a real guarantee of salvation. We might have tried everything, do good and righteousness, but still, we are not sure about our salvation. In fact, we feel that the more sins we commit every day.

Only By Faith in Jesus, We Are Saved

God’s Word in Isaiah 64:4 does explain that human righteousness is only dirty rags before God. It cannot pay our sins. Jesus wanted to die on the cross so that someone would pay for our debts of sins that have not been paid except by His blood.

God’s Word in Ephesians 2: 8-9 teaches us that we are saved by faith, not because of our goodness, righteousness, or our works. Salvation is a gift from God for those who believe. This is purely a gift from God to those who believe, by giving Himself to die on the cross, as a substitute for the payment of our sins, so that we are saved.

Isaiah 53: 5, “But he was pierced for our rebellion, he was crushed for our iniquities; the reward which brings salvation to us is inflicted upon him, and by his stripes, we are healed ”. All the torments for our sins were placed upon Jesus because sin had to be paid for, Jesus did it for us (John 3:16). Only Jesus who wanted to die to atone for our sins.

This is the time, let us believe in Jesus. Express our belief in prayer as a sign of our faith in God. Faith is a gift from God to us. John 1:12 says: “But he gave all who received him the power to become children of God, even those who believe in his name”. Now walk in faith. We now have a Father in heaven. Wherever the Father is, we are there. If our father is in heaven, we will definitely be in heaven. Welcome to His kingdom.

By His Stripes, We Are Healed

Isaiah 53: 5, “But he was pierced for our rebelliousness, he was crushed for our iniquities; the reward which brings salvation to us is inflicted upon him, and by his stripes we are healed ”. The scourge on Jesus’ body made stripes, they were the stripes that would heal us. Today if we believe in Jesus, miracles will certainly happen, He heals and casts out the powers of darkness. We can cast out the power of darkness if we accept the Lord Jesus. Lay your hands on the sick area with faith. Believe that the power of Jesus is the same, yesterday, today, and forever. [RS/EM]
