KPPI (Praise and Divine Healing Service) Online again took place on Monday, September 21, 2020 through the Live Streaming program on Facebook and YouTube.

The Word of God was delivered by Rev. Jacob B. Sumbayak, taken from Matthew 16: 13-20 about Peter’s Confession.

Matthew 16:13-20 (NIV)
13 When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say the Son of Man is?”
14 They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”
15 “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?”
16 Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”
17 Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven. 18 And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. 19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” 20 Then he ordered his disciples not to tell anyone that he was the Messiah.

“Who do men say, the Son of Man is?”

The Word of God that we’ve just read is remarkable, this reveals who Jesus is. It begins with Jesus’ question to His disciples what do people say about Jesus. And they said that some thought that He was John the Baptist, some others Elijah; and others thought He was Jeremiah, or one of the prophets.

Some said that He was John the Baptist, whereas John the Baptist at that time was already beheaded. But some still assumed that Jesus was the resurrected John the Baptist. One could expect this because John the Baptist was indeed an extraordinary prophet in New Testament times, he was very influential and powerful in preaching about repentance.

Some even said He was Elijah, a great prophet in Old Testament times. Elijah performed many miracles. One of them was to raise up the son of a widow in Zarephath. He also called down the fire from heaven to burn the offerings.

Others said that He was Jeremiah, who was also a great prophet in Old Testament times. It was Elijah who foretold that Israelites would be exiled to Babylon for 70 years. No one believed this prophecy but the prophecy proved to be fulfilled. Such was the speculation of the people about who Jesus was, in addition to the names above were some other prophets in Old Testament times.

Peter’s Confession,”You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God!”

Now Jesus asks the disciples themselves, who is Jesus?
Verse 15-16, “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?” Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”

Who is the Messiah? The Messiah is the One promised by God, who will come to redeem His people from all their sins. This Messiah was also prophesied by previous prophets. Including the prophet Daniel, who saw that the Kingdom of the Messiah reigns eternally. This Messiah is the Son of God Himself, who will reign as King eternally.

This can be seen from Matthew 1: 18-23 about the birth of Jesus Christ. In verses 20-21 the angel of the Lord said to Joseph in a dream, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son and you will name him Jesus, for He is the One who will save His people from their sins. “

It was foretold in the Old Testament that the Messiah would be a descendant of David, and would be born of a virgin. Isaiah had prophesied 700 years in advance. The Messiah would also be a child born in Bethlehem. That too had been prophesied.

So who is this Messiah? The Messiah is God Himself who was willing to come down to earth, to atone for our sins, to save us by dying on the cross. The Word of God said this Messiah would be King and that was proven after the Lord Jesus died on the cross, was buried and rose on the third day from the dead and He lives forever and reigns as the King forever. Because He is God Himself. That is why He is called the Messiah.

Jesus said that whoever confesses that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of the living God, the Savior of mankind, the Son of God who died on the cross but rose again, Jesus said blessed be he. Jesus is not just a prophet like John the Baptist or the prophet Jeremiah. But more than that, He is the Messiah, the Son of God Himself who was promised by God the Father. Whoever believes in Him will be forgiven, saved, and will receive eternal life, because Someone paid for his sins and his life is redeemed.

Therefore the Word of God says, in John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. ”

Will you believe in this Messiah?

By His wounds We Are Healed

For those who have believed in Jesus and desire to be healed by God, believe that today you will be healed.

The Word of God in Isaiah 53: 5 says: “But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; the reward that brings salvation to us is imposed on him, and by his wounds we are healed. ”

Before Lord Jesus was crucified on the cross, He was tortured, and whipped. But the Word of God says, by His stripes we are healed. As long as we believe! 2000 years ago Lord Jesus healed many sicknesses, the deaf, the blind, the lame, the mute, even rose the dead.

Nothing is impossible for God and nothing is impossible for the one who believes. Lord Jesus has not changed,  Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. His power has never changed, and what Jesus did 2000 years ago continues to this day.
Just believe, today you will be healed by Lord Jesus. Lay your hands on the sick part, and believe that Lord Jesus is able to heal you. [RS/EM]
