The Online Program of KPPI (Praise and Divine Healing Service) was held on Thursday, March 18, 2021. It was a live-streaming program that could be watched through Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram. The Word of God was delivered by Rev. Jacob B Sumbayak, taken from Matthew 8:23-27 about Jesus calmed the wind.

Matthew 8: 23-27
Now when He got into a boat, His disciples followed Him. And suddenly a great tempest arose on the sea, so that the boat was covered with the waves. But He was asleep. Then His disciples came to Him and awoke Him, saying, “Lord, save us! We are perishing!” But He said to them, “Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?” Then He arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. So the men marveled, saying, “Who can this be, that even the winds and the sea obey Him?”

Wind and Lake Obey Jesus

The condition of the boat Jesus and the disciples rode was covered by the wave, meaning that the water had entered the boat. At that time, Jesus was sleeping and His disciples were all panicked. In fact, some of his disciples were skilled fishermen.

Then his disciples came to wake him up, saying, “Lord, save us! We are perishing!” If in the book of Mark 4:38, the same thing is even clearer, His disciple said: “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?” The Word “We” means they and Jesus, even though they knew that Jesus did many miracles.

Indeed, fear can make negative thinking or thoughts arise, just like these disciples of Jesus. They thought that Jesus did not care if they perish, not only that they perish, even “we” perish. Therefore we can understand that Jesus did not calm their fear, but Jesus rebuked them because they lacked faith, had little faith, so they became afraid.

Mark 4:39, Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. Jesus only spoke two words, namely “Peace, be still!,” then what happened? The lake was completely calm, and the wind became calm again.

Jesus is Powerful Because He is the Son of God

Who can do such a thing like this? Have you ever met someone who could do such a thing as this? Only a powerful person can do this. Therefore the disciples were really amazed and said, “Who can this be, that even the winds and the sea obey Him?”

After the time of Jesus, there were people who prayed to stop the rain, but they did it in the name of Jesus, not in his own name. There was also a person who raised the dead, they also did this not in their name, but in the name of Jesus. All these things can only be done in the name of Jesus. There is power in the name of Jesus.

Who is Jesus that He is so powerful? Jesus is the Son of God. Jesus is God Himself who came down to earth to become human, just like us. He had a body like ours. But actually, He is God who was willing to become human.

He is the Son of God Himself who was willing to come down from heaven and become a human being just like us. He had to eat and drink, also had to rest just like us. Even when this incident happened, Jesus was sleeping. But truly He is the Son of God. Jesus, being the Son for God, often called Himself the Son of Man, which means the same thing that is God became human.

Because of His Love, Jesus Came to Earth to Save Mankind

Why was Jesus, who is powerful, willing to come down from heaven to come to this world? Because He wants to save us. You may ask, ”Why must God Himself come to this world? Can’t He be represented by the best angel to preach salvation for men? Or the best messenger, like Moses, or Elijah who ascended to heaven, or the great John the Baptist to save men?”

According to the Word of God, we cannot do it. Who can atone for our sins? Who can pay for our sin? Who can save us and assure us that we will not be punished? Maybe you try to pay your sin debts with good deeds, but you can’t. You will continue to struggle to find out, “Who will be able to save me?”

That was why Jesus came because no one Is able to pay the debt of our sins, except the Lord Jesus Himself by going up to the cross. He died, shed His blood, and was tormented because all our sins were carried upon Him. Jesus became the sacrifice so that we might be saved, and this sacrifice is really holy and blameless. The Word of God says in 1 John 4:10, “In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.”

We are the descendants of Adam and Eve, who have sinned. God could have just eliminated us all and create new humans again. But God loves us so much that He does not eliminate us. But God came to earth to love us. He really cares for us, even the hairs on our heads are all numbered by Him (Matthew 10: 30).

The Word of God says in 1 John 4: 9, “In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him.”

You may wonder if God loves you. “Does God care about me? Does God care about my illnesses? Does God know when I go through suffering and despair and almost commit suicide?” God knows. That’s why He came today for you. He loves you.

The Word of God in John 3:16 says: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

Whoever believes in Jesus will not perish. Jesus will save him. Jesus will forgive him. His blood that was shed on the cross will cleanse his sins and save him and will give him eternal life.

For those of you who have accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior, this is a good step. If you die, the Lord Jesus will pick you up. Because Jesus has risen from the dead and from the grave. He lives forever, and He will take us up who believes in Him.

By Jesus’ stripes We Are Healed

Brothers and sisters, if you want to be healed by God, this is the time to believe and receive healing from God.

Isaiah 53: 5, “But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.”

Living on this earth, we will often experience suffering because of illnesses. That is why Jesus paid for it all. It is not only for the salvation of our souls. The Word of God says that by His stripes we are healed. Before going up to the cross, Jesus’ body got stripes after being flogged repeatedly by the Roman soldiers. But His stripes can heal us, as long as we believe in Jesus.

Jesus rebuked the wind and the lake so that the lake became calm. Jesus was also able to cast out demons. He also was able to heal people who were sick with leprosy, and even the dead could be raised by Jesus.

The Word of God in Hebrews 13: 8 says: “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” Jesus is the same yesterday and today and forever. He’s the same, His power is the same and He can heal you today. [yf/hn/em]
