Online KPPI (Praise and Divine Healing Service) was held again on Thursday, 18 June 2020 through the Live Streaming program on Facebook and YouTube.
God’s word was delivered by Rev. Jacob B. Sumbayak taken from Luke 8: 43-48, about Lord Jesus healed a bleeding woman.
If only I may touch His garment, I shall be made well
There was a woman who suffered from bleeding pain for 12 years.
12 years is not a short time. Bleeding pain is also not a mild disease. Had she ever been hopeless? We do not know, but certainly the suffering is not a short time, and no physicians could cure. Physically this woman is also very weak.
But what did she do?
When Jesus was on his way to the house of Jairus, in a crowd. This woman came toward Jesus from behind. She could not compete with many people who were jostling to meet Jesus. It was impossible for her to meet Jesus from the front. Finally she entered from behind Jesus and managed to touch his tufts or the hem of his robe.
Then Jesus said, “Who touched me?” And because no one confessed it, Peter said:
“Master, the multitudes throng and press You, and You say, ‘Who touched Me?’’
But Jesus said, “Somebody touched Me, for I perceived power going out from Me.”
In the midst of the crowd surely many people held Jesus, but He knew there was someone who touched Him by faith, so that there was power coming out of Jesus. Finally the woman came trembling, fell before him and explained the reason why she touched the tassels of Jesus’ garment, and she became healed.
This woman’s struggle to touch Jesus’ garment is also told in Matthew 9:21. It tells how she struggled and how weak she was because of poor physical condition. She could not meet Jesus directly. But she said in his heart, “If only I may touch His garment, I shall be made well.”
Her level of trust is extraordinary. She did not feel the need to meet Jesus face to face, or had to ask, “Jesus heal me” She did not feel the need for Jesus to say a word to her. She did not feel it was necessary for her to be like that to be recovered. And even though she was unable to come to Jesus from the front, this woman still believed that Jesus could heal her. Amazing faith!
Difficult conditions did not make her say, “Maybe it is not my time to recover now. I can not meet with Jesus, I can only see him from behind.” But due to her faith was so strong, even if only from behind, with her faith that said, “If only I may touch His garment, I shall be made well”,
then she became cured.
Who exemplified this woman that holding the edge of Jesus’ robe could be healed? There is no. Her strong faith has made her creative.
Believe in Jesus, the Son of God who Saves and Heals
It is very important for us to believe in Jesus. He is the Son of God who came down to earth to become a human like us, so that He could atone for our sins. Jesus chose to suffer in order that we will not suffer.
He was tortured so we would not be tortured, He was punished, humiliated and died on the cross in order that we would be free from punishment and humiliation. He died hanging on the cross so that we are able to live forever. He was wounded when whipped before going up to the cross and by His stripes we were healed.
Who wants to die for us? There was One who wanted to die for us according to God’s Word in Romans 5: 8, Christ died for us, when we are still sinners.
This is God’s love for us, He wanted to die for us. He knows that we are not able to pay for the debt of our sins. God showed His love by giving Christ to die for us, even when we are still living in sins.
It was Jesus whom that bleeding woman believed. Even though she did not meet Jesus face to face, this woman believed Jesus could cure her. She came to the right person, Jesus Christ.
God’s word in John 3:16 says: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
Jesus suffered for us so we could be saved, Jesus died in order that we could live forever.
Will you believe in Jesus? This is a good opportunity, maybe tomorrow there will be no chance. But if we now listen to this gospel message and believe in our hearts that Jesus is God who is able to forgive our sins, then we will be saved and have eternal life.
According to Isaiah 53: 5, this long-ill woman came to Jesus by faith, and she was recovered. What is needed is faith. Just like this bleeding woman, we can also be healed, as long as we believe in Jesus.
