KPPI (Praise and Divine Healing Service) online through the Live Streaming program on Facebook and YouTube, again was conducted on Thursday 21 May 2020.

God’s word was delivered by Rev. Jacob B. Sumbayak taken from John 5: 1-15, about a man who had been sick for 38 years, in the porch of the pool of Bethesda.

Having 5 porches and there were laid a large number of the sick: the blind, the cripple, and the lame. Why were these sick people lying there? At a certain time the Lord’s angel went down into the pool and stirred up the water; whoever stepped in first after the stirring of water was made well of whatever disease he had.

So all these sick people waited and tried to be the first to enter the pool of Betesda, when angels went down and stirred up the water. They waited for when the angel came, because the angel came at any time, there was no fixed schedule, so they continued waiting.

There wad a person who had been sick for 38 years. If at that time he was 50 years old, then for 38 years he was sick and only 12 years he was healthy. It can be imagined that 38 years is a very long time.

Jesus approaches you and says “Do you want to be healed?”

Jesus came to the pool of Bethesda specifically to meet a-38-year sick man. As there were so many people lying around, but Jesus came to this person. Jesus knew this sick man who had been sick for such a long time without anyone telling Him. He knew due to He is a Son of God who knows everything. Then Jesus said to 38-year sick man: “Do you want to be made well?”

It is often in the Bible that the sick came to Jesus, cried out to Jesus, or fell down before Jesus. But for once this Jesus came to that sick man. Jesus came to him and offered him healing, “Do you want to be made well?”.

But he did not know who offered him healing, so he said to Him: “Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up; but while I am coming, another steps down before me.”

He wanted to get well, but all he knew was he waited for an angel to shake the water.

This person did not know Jesus. He was not like Bartimaeus who knew Jesus who could heal the sick. If he were Bartimaeus he would cry out “Jesus Son of David heal me”. Or if he were a woman who suffered from a-12-year bleeding, then he would touch the hem of the Lord Jesus’ garment and would be healed. But he did not know who Jesus was.

Jesus said to him: “Rise, take up your bed and walk.” And at that very moment he recovered and he lifted his bed and walked. How did it happen? Because he met with Jesus. He did not need to wait for angels anymore, since in front of him, there was Jesus the Son of God, who in heaven is worshiped by all angels.

Why was this done by Jesus? Because Jesus really wanted to help this person. Even though this person did not know who Jesus was, God loved this person. What can we learn from this? God loves us. Maybe we long for a cure from long ago and do not know how to get well. Maybe from long ago we long for deliverance from one grief, or have been hoping for years that someone come to heal. Jesus wants to heal and release us.

John 5: 14-15 tells when the healed man met Jesus again in the temple, Jesus said “Sin no more”. After that he knew that it was Jesus who had healed him, then he went out to tell it to others.

Today also Jesus wants to meet you. Whoever you are. Maybe you do not know about, but if you finally see this program, because Jesus loves you and wants to heal you, and wants to solve your problems.

Jesus is very detailed to pay attention to us one by one. The Word of God says even He knows the amounts of the hairs of our heads. Will you believe that Jesus loves you? Jesus wants to forgive and save you. That is Jesus, who came down from heaven into the world to become a human. Even born in a sheepfold, and being a carpenter’s son, an ordinary person. So He knows the meaning of suffering from sweat to find food, because He lives the life as a Man. And He ascended to the cross to redeem us all, to pay the debt of our sins. He became a sacrifice so we could be saved.

John 1:12 says “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name.”

He really loves us. Even He paid attention to a man who had been sick for 38 years. Even though he did not know Jesus, God healed him. As God wanted to make him know about God’s power, God’s love, His love for him.

Jesus said to John 5: 14-15: “See, you have been made well. Sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon you.”

Now Jesus’ question is given to you, “Do you want to be made well?”. Whatever your pain, no matter how long you are sick, Jesus is able to heal you. We are people who are loved by God, we are His children.

Believe in Him, ask from Him, then He will give you the healing. [YF/EM]
