The online KPPI (Praise and Divine Healing Service) was held again on Monday, June 8, 2020, through a live stream program on Facebook and YouTube. The Word of God was delivered by Rev. Jacob B. Sumbayak, taken from Mark 2: 1-12 about the paralyzed man who was healed by Jesus.

The Faith of Paralyzed Man and His Bearers Brings Healing

The four men who brought the paralyzed man and the lame himself had extraordinary steps of faith. Actually, they needed a good cooperation so they could go up to the roof of the house. If the lame was afraid of falling because he would be brought to the roof, surely there would be no healing. Likewise, if no one did not want to carry him, then there would be no miracles either. However, the paralyzed man and those who carried him were willing to do it.

It could be said that they had a determined attitude. This paralyzed man must be so ill that he could not move. However, these four men dared to lift him to the roof. They even dared to demolish people’s houses. The business certainly could be long, considering about the compensation, but that did not not prevent them from meeting Jesus.

They believed that when they met Jesus, the paralyzed man would be healed. So, they estimated where Jesus was, then dismantled the roof so that they could bring down the sick man who was paralyzed right in front of Jesus.

This paralyzed person was not a child, he must be an adult. However, in verse 5 Jesus said, Son, your sins are forgiven.”! These words are the words of someone who is full of authority, someone who has a very high position. Rarely did the Lord Jesus say this to those who come to Him to be healed at the earliest, before healing takes place.

Indeed He once said to the sick in the Siloam pool, after recovering, Jesus said, “Do not sin again, so that nothing worse happens for you.” Also to the adulterous woman who was caught and wanted to be stoned, Jesus said, “I will not punish you, go away and sin no more.” but here, at the beginning Jesus said, “My child, your sins are forgiven!”

Jesus Has the Power to Forgive Sin

The scribes assumed that Jesus blasphemed God because only God could forgive sins. Truly Jesus is God so He has the power to forgive sins, heal, cast out, and punish Satan. But the scribes did not believe that Jesus was God.

Jesus saw the lame and those who picked him up came to Him in earnest. Jesus also must have known that this lame man came not only to be healed, but also asked for forgiveness. So when Jesus saw their faith, Jesus said, “Your sins have been forgiven.”

Which is most important to us, our sin to be forgiven or to be healed by God? Surely we prefer so that we are forgiven, because God’s forgiveness is the most important thing. God will surely heal us, but the most important thing is God forgives our sins.

Maybe right now we are sick, have problems, therefore, let us come to Jesus. Not only you will be cured or freed from economic problems, or from all the pressing problems and conditions, even from household problems. But will we come to God to be forgiven by God?

Jesus can forgive our sins because He is God. He went to the cross, took away all our sins and paid all the debts of our sins. He endured all sufferings, sicknesses, so that we would be released and forgiven.

Isaiah 53:5 But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him,and by his wounds we are healed.

Returning to Mark 2: 11-12 “I tell you, get up, take your mat and go home.” (12) He got up, took his mat and walked out in full view of them all. This amazed everyone and they praised God, saying, “We have never seen anything like this!” Jesus said three words which are actions that could not be done by the paralyzed man, namely GET UP, TAKE YOUR MAT, and GO HOME.

However, three things that were impossible for this paralyzed man to do, he could do them because Jesus has the power to heal. Brothers and sisters, Jesus has the power to forgive and heal us. Believe in Jesus. [YP/EM]
