The online KPPI (Praise and Divine Healing Service) was held again on Thursday, July 30, 2020 through a live-streaming program on Facebook and YouTube. The Word of God was delivered by Rev. Jacob B. Sumbayak, taken from John 4: 46-54 about Jesus healing a nobleman’s son.
Jesus Healed a Nobleman’s Son
Jesus returned to Cana, the place where He turned water into wine. This coming of Jesus was known to a nobleman who was at Capernaum, and this man came to see Jesus to heal his sick son.
The distance between the town of Capernaum to Cana is quite far, about 26.5 km. Nowadays if we travel by car, it might take around half an hour. But at that time, travelling was taken on foot or by horse cart. It will take around 1 day to travel on foot. So this nobleman really spent his time to come to Jesus and pleaded Him to heal his son.
The nobleman said to Him, “Sir, come down before my child dies!”Jesus said to him, “Go your way; your son lives.” So the man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him, and he went his way. (John 4:49-50) This man went back home and spent one day to travel back to his town.
And as he was now going down, his servants met him and told him, saying, “Your son lives!” (John 4:51).Then he inquired of them the hour when he got better. And they said to him, “Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.” So the father knew that it was at the same hour in which Jesus said to him, “Your son lives.” (John 4:52)
He remembered what Jesus said. Apparently in spite of all the distance and the fact that Jesus did not touch his son, but only spoke to him, right at the moment Jesus said that his son was healed, his fever immediately disappeared and it was witnessed by his servants. Since then, the nobleman himself believed more in Jesus, and his whole household.
Jesus, the Messiah who Came to Save Man
Why did miracles like that happen? Why did the child get healed with only two words? That could happen because Jesus could do miracles. It is because He is the Son of God, the Messiah, the One promised by God the Father to come from the descendants of King David who will reign forever and ever.
The Word of God in Luke 1:33 (NKJV), And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end. This is the Messiah that was promised by God in Matthew 1:21, “And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.”
These are two things that any human being cannot do. Who can redeem and forgive our sins? Who can be King for us forever? Only Jesus can do it. Jesus not only performed miracles but Jesus came to save our life and become King forever and ever.
Why did Jesus have to come to forgive our sins? Because we all have sinned (Romans 3:23), therefore there should be someone to redeem our sins. Of course we cannot afford to pay for our own sins.
The Word of God says in Isaiah 64: 6 (NKJV), “But we are all like an unclean thing, And all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags.” So how can we pay off the debts of our sins if our righteousness is like a dirty cloth before God? No one can pay the debt of our sin and we have fallen short of God’s glory because we have sinned.
But there was one person who had come down from Heaven, the Son of God, Jesus, who was born because of the promise of God the Father from a virgin, Mary. He was born with extraordinary miracles to become the same as human being.
He Redeemed Us by Going to the Cross as the Substitute on our Place
Jesus redeemed us not with cheap and simple thing, but with very expensive thing, that is His own life. He did it according to the Word of God in John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
God the Father gave His only begotten Son to be the sacrifice for our redemption. He paid the debts of our sin. God Himself wanted to sacrifice for us. It is not us who sacrificed for God, but God Himself sacrificed for us. He loves us so much that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life. How happy we are if our sins are forgiven. How extraordinary it is if we are free from the bondage of sin. We feel relieved and have peace when we know that our sins are forgiven and Jesus is the one who forgives our sins.
Will you believe in Jesus? If you are right now listening to the Word of God, this is a miracle, because Jesus wants you to believe in Him. If we believe in Jesus, He will give you both healing and salvation.
By His Stripes We are Healed
If anyone wants to be healed, this is the time for Jesus to heal. All we need to have is our faith. Just like this nobleman, he came to Jesus on a long journey, asking for healing for his son. He believed in Jesus’ Words, so his son was healed. This can happen to you also. Because Hebrews 13: 8 says that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever. He healed people, now He will also heal you.
Isaiah 53: 5, “But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.” Jesus was flogged so many times and suffered tremendously, but it is by His stripes that we are healed. Believe in this Word of God. [yan/lyd]
