The online KPPI (Praise and Divine Healing Service) was held again on Thursday, October 29, 2020. The service was a live-streaming program that was aired through Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram. The Word of God was delivered by Rev. Jacob B. Sumbayak, taken from Luke 24: 50-53 about Jesus being ascended to heaven.
Luke 24: 50-53
And He led them out as far as Bethany, and He lifted up His hands and blessed them. Now it came to pass, while He blessed them, that He was parted from them and carried up into heaven. And they worshiped Him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy, and were continually in the temple praising and blessing God. Amen.
Jesus was Taken up to Heaven
After Jesus rose from the dead, He appeared to His disciples on numerous occasions. He taught His disciples repeatedly for 40 days. After 40 days, He took His disciples to a city and blessed them in Bethany. After He blessed His disciples, He was parted from them and was taken up to heaven.
There were eleven main disciples of Jesus who witnessed Jesus being taken up into heaven. This was an extraordinary event and it will never happen again.
In the Old Testament, the event like this also occurred, it was when the Prophet Elijah taken up to heaven, witnessed by one of his disciples, Elisha.
2 Kings 2:11-12
Then it happened, as they continued on and talked, that suddenly a chariot of fire appeared with horses of fire, and separated the two of them; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven. And Elisha saw it, and he cried out, “My father, my father, the chariot of Israel and its horsemen!” So he saw him no more. And he took hold of his own clothes and tore them into two pieces.
This kind of event happened again in the New Testament when the Lord Jesus was taken up to heaven.
Acts 1:9
Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight.
Jesus was lifted up higher and higher and it was witnessed by His disciples. This is such an extraordinary event. This is a miracle. His disciples were amazed to see it all.
Luke 24:52
And they worshiped Him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy,
The Disciples are Witnesses of Christ
They saw and witnessed an event that had never happened before and will never happen again, Jesus was taken up to heaven. Jesus said they would be witnesses of what they had seen. They became witnesses of Christ, starting from seeing how Jesus was tortured, died, was buried, rose and ascended to heaven. There had become witnesses of the events that Jesus experienced. The resurrection of Jesus was witnessed by His eleven disciples and more than five hundred people, and Jesus’ ascension to Heaven was witnessed by twelve disciples.
1 Corinthians 15:6
After that He was seen by over five hundred brethren at once, of whom the greater part remain to the present, but some have fallen asleep.
The event was something that truly happened and was legitimate because it was witnessed by 2 or 3 more people. The disciples became witnesses of Jesus to many people. They witnessed the events of Jesus died on the cross, His resurrection, and His ascension to heaven.
Luke 24: 47-48
and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. And you are witnesses of these things.
They became witnesses and they proclaimed that there is forgiveness in Jesus. He proved that He won and that He was not an ordinary human being, but the Son of the living God. Whoever believes in Jesus will be forgiven of his sins because Jesus died to pay for all our sins and transgressions. That was what Jesus taught to His disciples.
Whoever Believes in Jesus will be Saved and Healed
Isaiah 53:5
But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.
Jesus suffered so that we would not suffer no more, and healed from all illnesses because we have been healed by His stripes. Jesus had endured in this way. He was willing to come to earth as a Human Being even though He is God. He did it all just for us. He willingly gave His life. He gave it all so we could be saved.
We cannot pay for our salvation. All our good deeds are meaningless, they cannot pay for all our sins. But there is One Person who paid all our debt for sins. His name is Jesus who died on the cross. He indeed was willing to give up his life. If He used His power, none could arrest Him. Because when the soldiers were about to arrest Him, He said, “I am He” and all those people fell to the ground. Because no one could arrest Jesus, but Jesus surrendered Himself so that there would be unblemished and holy sacrifice, so that we might be saved.
This is the time for us to believe and don’t delay anymore. Jesus wants to come into our hearts and wants to save us. Accept Him to come into your heart.
Jesus endured everything, He was scourged, tortured, flogged, but by His stripes we are healed. Believe in God’s Word. For those who are sick, have faith and you will be healed. Believe that Jesus is able to heal you.
Whereas He alone rose from the dead and was taken up to heaven. This is an example for us so that if we believe in Jesus, if we die, Jesus will raise us up when He comes in the clouds.
Lay hands on the part of the body that is sick, believe that by Jesus’ stripes you are healed. [YF/EM]
