The online KPPI (Praise and Divine Healing Service) took place again on Monday, 2– November – 2020 through the Live Streaming program on Facebook, YouTube and Instagram. The Word of God was delivered by Rev. Jacob B. Sumbayak, taken from John 1:1-5, 14-18 about the Word of God who became man.
John 1: 1-3
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.
God Made Everything Through the Word
When we are asked who created the heavens and the earth? Surely you know the answer is God. But how did God create the heavens and the earth? Through this Word of God. The Word of God in Hebrews 11: 3 says, “By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.”
The same thing we see also when God created the heavens and the earth, in Genesis 1: 3, God said, “There shall be light.” Then the light existed. God said and then so, from nothing to exist, this is how God created the heavens and the earth. There is one more thing, let’s look at the Word of God in John 1: 1, In the beginning was the Word; The Word is with God and the Word is God. So, God made everything by the Word, without the Word nothing was made by God, and the Word is God Himself.
The Word Has Become Man, His Name is Jesus
Let’s see, what did God who is full of love and plans do for mankind next? We can read from John 1:14, “the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen His glory, namely the glory given to Him as the Only Begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.”
We can imagine the Word which is so incredibly powerful, which is the very same Word who made heaven and earth, and now the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us. We have seen his glory, which is the glory that is given to him. Who was this given to? It was given to the Word as the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. The Word became human, and the Word made human is called the Only Begotten Son of the Father. It is often said that the only begotten of the Father is the Son of God, and this Son of God is named Jesus. Jesus Himself often called Himself the Son of Man. The Word became human, could it be? Yes definitely! While He has made the heavens and the earth and everything in them, of course it won’t be difficult for God to become human.
Why was the Word made flesh? Why did that great God become human? Because God really loves humans, therefore God sent the Word to become human, to come to earth, to save mankind. Why must we be saved? Because humans cannot save themselves, while all humans have sinned, and have lost the glory of God. No one will ever reach heaven without someone came to redeem mankind. This is a big project for God Himself, until He Himself was willing to become a human.
All because he loves us so much, as John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
Jesus came from heaven, but He wanted to come down to earth, and humble Himself so low, to empty Himself, because of His love for man. He needed to come, so that He can be the Savior of men, therefore He is called the Savior of the world.
John the Baptist, a great Servant of God, who was indeed sent by God before Jesus, said in John 1:15, John testified about Him and cried out, “This is He, which I mean when I say: Then from me shall come. He that has preceded me, because He was before me.” John the Baptist truly acknowledged that Jesus existed before John the Baptist existed, even existed before Adam and Eve existed, because He was God Himself. John the Baptist knew that Jesus was the Son of God, that Jesus was the Messiah, the Savior who came to earth, who came from heaven.
When You See Jesus, You See God
To prove that Jesus is from above, not ordinary people like us, John 1:18 says: “No one has ever seen God; but the only begotten Son of God, who is in the bosom of the Father, it is He who reveals Him.”
This Word says that no one has ever seen God, because God is so holy, but there is only one who has ever seen God, namely the only begotten of God, who is He? He is the Word, His name is Jesus. Jesus is the only one who has ever seen God, therefore, if we see Jesus, then actually, believe that we have seen God Himself.
The Word of God in Colossians 2: 9 says: “For in Him the whole fullness of Godhead dwells in body.” So if we see Jesus, we actually see God, if we believe in Jesus, then we actually believe in God. Look at the attitudes of Jesus, then we will recognize the attititudes of God. If we see Jesus as patient, not angry, not vindictive, not teaching hatred, not teaching to return evil for evil, that is the Father in heaven. If Jesus wants to heal the sick, so is God the Father in heaven. If Jesus is forgiving and He forgives those who crucified Him, then God the Father is also forgiving and merciful. Therefore believe in Jesus.
If Jesus was willing to sacrifice until He died on the cross to forgive us, that is the character of God the Father who sacrificed for humans. Just like a father in this world, there is a father who is willing to sacrifice for his children so that his children can go to school, so that their children can get clothes, so that their children can eat. The father of this world, whether he is evil, love his children, even more of our Father in heaven.
If Jesus was willing to sacrifice until He died on the cross, that is the character of the Father, and it is because of the Father’s love for us. That is what Jesus did. He gave His life to be crucified.
Will you believe in Jesus? If you believe in Jesus, your sins will be forgiven, and you will receive the assurance of eternal salvation, so that salvation is a certainty. Why are we sure? Because we have seen it by for ourselves, and it was witnessed by many people 2000 years ago, that Jesus Himself rose from the dead. If Jesus himself rose from the dead, then surely we can also be resurrected by Jesus.
Jesus said in John 6:44: “No one can come to Me, unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I will raise him in the last days.” Jesus is able to raise us in the last days, He Himself has risen from the dead as an example, whoever believes in Him will not perish, but will have eternal life. And if we die and are buried, in the last days, Jesus will raise us. Who wants to believe in Jesus? Come to Jesus, then you will certainly have peace from heaven. We may face problems tomorrow or the day after tomorrow, but there is Jesus who gives peace, who gives solutions.
Jesus is Able to Heal All Diseases
For those of us who already believe in Jesus and want to be healed by Jesus, believe in Jesus, he can heal us. The Word of God Isaiah 53: 5 says: “But he was pierced because of our rebellion, he was crushed for our iniquities; the reward which brings salvation to us is inflicted upon him, and by his stripes we are healed.”
That is what Jesus did, we cannot pay our debt for our sins, He suffered all the suffering until He died on the cross so that we might live. The Word of God ends with a sentence by His stripes we are healed.
We must have heard that Jesus was able to heal the sick, Jesus was able to heal lame people, blind people, lepers, and various diseases. The sickness of being possessed by a demon, Jesus was able to heal. So if we have a disease because there is a demon in our body, believe God can heal. First, believe in Jesus, let Jesus come into your heart, and let us pray and we will be healed. [RS/HN/EM]
