The online KPPI (Praise and Divine Healing Service) was held again on Thursday, December 3, 2020. The service was a live-streaming program aired through Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram. The Word of God was delivered by Rev. Jacob B. Sumbayak, taken from Matthew 1: 18-25 about the birth of Jesus Christ.

The Birth of Jesus Christ, the Fulfillment of God’s Promise of the Coming of the Messiah

This is the birth of Jesus. He was born to a mother named Mary and a father named Joseph. Joseph was a descendant of David as the angel said. According to the Word of God, the Messiah must be born from the descendant of David. It was God’s promise to David a thousand years ago, as written in 2 Samuel 7: 12-13.

2 Samuel 7: 12-13
When your days are fulfilled and you rest with your fathers, I will set up your seed after you, who will come from your body, and I will establish his kingdom. He shall build a house for My name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever.

The Israelites knew very well about the promise of the Messiah and they waited for the Messiah. They waited for centuries from the time of David until a thousand years later, it was fulfilled.

Matthew 1:17
So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations, from David until the captivity in Babylon are fourteen generations, and from the captivity in Babylon until the Christ are fourteen generations.

From the genealogy, Joseph was a descendant of David and the Messiah must be born from the descendant of David. Jesus was the 28th generation since David. It was one thousand years to give birth to 28 generations from David to the birth of the Lord Jesus.

Mary had already conceived from the Holy Spirit and the Messiah came to deliver men from all the bondage of sin because no one could ever deliver us completely and perfectly, only the Messiah can do it. And that was what the Israelites were waiting for, because the Israelites knew that only the Messiah could deliver them from sins.

Nothing can save us except the Messiah. God Himself came down to this earth and that was promised by God to David a thousand years ago. God never forgets His promises. Therefore, after the 28th generation of David, Joseph had a son named Jesus. Therefore, Jesus was called the Son of David. We know that Jesus’ birth was extraordinary, He had to be born from the descendant of David, and Joseph as a descendant of David who became the father of Jesus.

The Prophet Isaiah 300 years after David or 700 years before Jesus was born had prophesied that the Messiah must be born of a virgin (Isaiah 7:14 – red). Jesus was born not by accident, not something that was not planned by God, but God had planned that there would be a Messiah, a Savior who atoned for sins to be born. Jesus would be born of a virgin and of the line of David.

Because Joseph was told by the angel that Mary had conceived from the Holy Spirit. Therefore, Joseph took Mary as his wife. The Word of God was fulfilled that there was a Son “Immanuel” named Jesus from a virgin named Mary. It was really a great miracle, a virgin gave birth to a Son even though she had never had sex before.

Jesus is the one who will save His people from the bondage of sin because no one can save men, but Jesus. There have been so many prophets before Jesus, but no one was able to redeem His people from sin, only the Messiah, and the Messiah is Jesus.

Open our hearts to know that our Savior was not born all of a sudden, but it was God’s plan, because God loves human being so much. God knows that no one can save men unless He Himself came down to this world. Therefore, He came down through Jesus Christ.

John 3:16
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

Will we believe in Jesus? Jesus is the expression of God’s love for us. He is the one who can save us and redeem us from our sins. It is He who will pay all the debt of our sins because Jesus went up to the cross. He suffered great torments until He died on the cross to atone for our sins. Trust in Jesus, believe that He is the Messiah who is able to save us.

He is God Himself. He was born in Bethlehem in a stable and He did something extraordinary. He was willing to die on the cross and lay down His life for us. He is truly the Son of God. Jesus is powerful, but He was willing to die and laying down His life for us.

Isaiah 53: 5
But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.

He paid for our sins with His own life by shedding His blood on the cross. All the torments, all the insults, the scourging, and all that severe suffering was brought upon Jesus on the cross, so that we can be saved.

Believe in Jesus, this is the day to make the decision to believe and accept Him as our Lord and Savior so that our sins are forgiven. Because He saved us from our sins. There is no other name in which we can be saved, except in the name of Jesus. There is salvation, atonement, and there is forgiveness of sins in Him.

If we have felt forgiveness from God ourselves, we will experience peace from God that surpasses all understanding, beyond all we can think of, because Jesus gave us life and peace. And when we die, we believe that Jesus will raise us in the last days.

By Jesus’ Stripes We Are Healed

For those who are sick and long to be healed by God, believe that Jesus who is the Messiah, who was truly born and came from heaven, can heal us.

Before going up to the cross, Jesus was flogged dozens of times that left stripes on His body. The scourging made His body full of stripes. But the Word of God says that by His stripes we are healed. Jesus took away our sins by dying on the cross and Jesus also bore our sicknesses and by His stripes, those who are sick and believe in Him can be healed.

Jesus was able to heal the sick, heal the lame, open blind eyes, even raise the dead and He is able to heal us, be it a serious illness where it seems to be no hope, be it a common illness or a minor, all are healed by His stripes as long as we believe.

What Jesus did 2000 years ago, He can do it today because He is the same. Whatever our sickness is, believe that today Jesus is able to heal us as long as we believe in Him. The thing that we need to do is only believe in Jesus and the Word of God. Put your trust in a very good Messiah, who is able to heal us. And by His stripes, we are healed.

Hebrews 13:8, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.”

Ask Him, don’t be afraid, believe, and we will receive. [YF/HN/EM]
