Who is Jesus Christ?
He was the Messiah who was promised by God to atone for human sins. The Messiah is God Himself who came down to earth to become a human being to live among men so that we can know God.
The prophet Micah prophesied around 700 years before Jesus was born. The book of Micah 5:2 says that in Bethlehem there would be born a King, a Messiah. Jesus Christ fulfilled that prophecy. The Messiah was born of the line of David, was born to a virgin, and was born in Bethlehem in the City of David.
The birth of Jesus was perfectly planned by our Lord God. “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us,…” (John 1:14).
Why did Jesus have to come to earth to become human?
Because no one is able to pay the debt of human’s sin while he himself is sinful. Therefore, God came into the world in the form of a human, His name is Jesus. He lived just like us, had flesh, and also endured the devil’s temptations, but He never sinned.
Therefore, Jesus could become a sin offering, just like an unblemished Lamb that was sacrificed. Jesus was sacrificed on the cross to redeem the sins of men.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16). [yf/hn/em]
