The Word of God was delivered by Rev. Jacob B. Sumbayak, taken from Luke 2: 8-20 about the shepherds in the fields of Bethlehem.
There were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. Suddenly a bright sky shone when an angel of God appeared and the glory of God shone around them. They were very scared. And the angel said unto them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people.” So, there is great news for all the nations, not just one nation. The angels were very happy to deliver this good news.
What was the news? “For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Saviour, who is Christ the Lord.”
A Saviour had been born who will forgive the sins of men and give salvation. He is the Messiah who was the atoning sacrifice for our sins on the cross as a holy and blameless sacrifice. He was born in a stable, and He had lived just the same as any other human being. He even knew what it meant to work hard, feeling hungry and tired. He knows and also understands our weaknesses. Even as we are, He had also been tempted, but he did not sin. (Hebrews 4:15).
Everyone who believes in Him will not perish but will have eternal life. [YF/HN/EM]
