Lord, if it is You, Help Me!
There are times when we face difficult situations in our life. We feel as if we were in a boat that was tossed by a large, terrifying wave. And we may say, “Am I going to sink under these big waves? Who can help me?”
The Word of God from Matthew 14: 22-33 tells us how Jesus’ disciples faced difficult conditions. In the middle of the night, they spent hours on the boat tossed by the waves because the wind was against them. Then, suddenly at 3 a.m, they saw someone coming walking on the water. When the disciples saw this, they became afraid. They were not happy, but instead they thought it was a ghost.
But immediately Jesus said to them, “Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid.” Then Peter cried out and answered Him, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.”
Peter’s request was extraordinary. When he knew that it was God, he let go of his fear, so Peter asked for something extraordinary. He said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.” Peter wanted that miracle to happen to him too. It was indeed a supernatural experience, walking on water. Peter longed to experience this miracle.
Then Jesus said, “Come!” So, Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water to Jesus. That was a miracle, Jesus only said, “Come!” and Peter believed, so he walked on the water with Jesus.
Brothers and sisters, Jesus is present in our lives when it seems that we are in the middle of the sea and being hit by the waves. It could be that Jesus can come to us in a supernatural way too. Maybe we are also surprised and do not think that it is God. But if God meets us at this time, then let’s cry out, “Lord, if it is You, then help me, save me!”
Jesus came down to earth because He saw our suffering and He loves us so much.
He came to help us from the waves of our problems, even to deliver us from all the bondage of sin.
Jesus is the Messiah, God Himself, who came down to earth to atone for human sins. Jesus is the Word who became human. Whoever believes in Him will not perish, because their sins are forgiven, and will receive eternal life (John 3:16). [yf/hn/em]
