The Online Program of KPPI (Praise and Divine Healing Service) was held on Thursday, March 4, 2021. It was a live-streaming program that could be watched through Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram. The Word of God was delivered by Rev. Jacob B Sumbayak, taken from Matthew 8: 1-4 about Jesus healing a leper.
Mathew 8:1-4, “When He had come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed Him. And behold, a leper came and worshiped Him, saying, “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.” Then Jesus put out His hand and touched him, saying, “I am willing; be cleansed.” Immediately his leprosy was cleansed. And Jesus said to him, “See that you tell no one; but go your way, show yourself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.”
A Leper Was Healed by Jesus Because of His Faith
In the past, leprosy was a disease that was difficult to be cured and the lepers had to be isolated out of the community and considered sinners. The lepers were isolated because the disease was very contagious, they even had to shout, “Leprosy! Leprosy! Unclean! Unclean!”, so that other people would be aware and avoided them.
The fight of this leper man was extraordinary. His condition as an exiled person made him unable to go around the crowd to come to Jesus. Surely he was ready to be rejected and despised by people, but he was determined to come to Jesus.
Then what did he do when he came to Jesus? This leper worshiped Him and said, “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.” Why did he bow down in worship? Because he knew who Jesus was. He strongly believed that Jesus could heal him. The problem with him was whether Jesus wanted to heal him or not, because he was a sinner who had been exiled from the community. He knew that he was in a very low position. He did not doubt Jesus at all, but he wondered whether Jesus was willing to heal him or not.
Jesus was deeply impressed by this leper’s steps of faith. He dared to break through so many people, dared to worship, and dared to ask Him for healing. We see that Jesus did not delay responding to this man who had great faith in Him. Jesus immediately reached out, touched the man, and said, “I am willing; be cleansed.” Immediately the person was cleansed from leprosy. Then Jesus told him to go to the priest because according to the Law, a healed person must come to the priest to be confirmed.
Jesus Is the Messiah, the Saviour, the Son of God Who Was Promised to Men
This leper really knew who Jesus was. He did not come so that he could see the proof that Jesus was the God who could heal, and then he would believe in Him. No, in fact, he had known that Jesus was able to heal. He knew Jesus was not an ordinary man and he knew that Jesus was the Son of God, the promised Messiah. So even though he was a leper, he did a lot to find out about Jesus so that He could conclude that Jesus was the Messiah.
He knew that Jesus had the power to forgive sins and worthy to be worshiped because He is King. If the King is pleased then He will do something. So he said, “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.” This clearly implied that this leper firmly believed that Jesus is God, the Son of God, God who became man.
Colossians 2:9 “For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily;”
All the fullness of God abides physically in the Lord Jesus. The invisible God can be seen in Jesus.
John 1:14 “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.”
This is what the leper saw, the Word became man. This is the Savior, Redeemer, Healer that God promised. He knew exactly why he worshiped Jesus. When he saw Jesus, he saw the fullness of the Godhead in Jesus. That’s why he said, “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.” And Jesus cleansed this leper immediately.
Trust in Jesus And Your Sins Are Forgiven
If you come as a sinner who is full of wickedness, you get stressed seeing your own evil deeds, and sin still remains. But as you see Jesus as Lord and you come to Him, then you will be forgiven. He died on the cross, paying for your sins, not with His wealth but with His own life.
John 3: 16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
Maybe you feel that you have a lot of sins and you feel so shameful, and you can’t even forgive yourself, but know that Jesus came to forgive you.
Isaiah1:18, “Come now, and let us reason together,” Says the LORD, “Though your sins are like scarlet, They shall be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They shall be as wool.
Will we believe that Jesus came to forgive our sins? Come to Jesus. Trust in Jesus. By believing, we are saved and our sins are forgiven. Jesus forgives us and our sins were paid with His own blood.
Isaiah 53 :5 “But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.”
The prophecy of 700 years before Jesus was crucified was fulfilled. By His stripes we are healed. This leper was only touched and immediately became clean. Jesus was able to heal all sick people, even He was able to raise the dead. He is Almighty. Jesus will heal you tonight. [yf/hn/em]
