The Word of God from John 10:17-18 was delivered by Rev. Jacob B. Sumbayak. It was an excerpt of the previous service that was held on Monday, February 8, 2021. This service was broadcast through a live-streaming program that could be watched on Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram.
Jesus Is God who Created Heaven and Earth
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him, nothing was made that was made.” (John 1: 1-3)
Jesus is the Word Himself. He is the God who created the heavens and earth and all the living things inside it.
All power is in Jesus. It was Him who said to the storm, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm.”
It was Him who spoke to Lazarus, who had been dead for four days, “Lazarus, come forth!” He who had died came out bound hand and foot with grave clothes and his face was wrapped with a cloth. A dead man was raised up.
It was Him who turned water into wine, touched the blind eyes to see, the lame walked, and they who were demon-possessed were set free.
But why could Jesus who is so powerful, be crucified? Because He was willing to be crucified. As written in the following verse:
John 10: 17-18, “Therefore My Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it again. No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This command I have received from My Father.”
Because of His Love, Jesus Was Willing to Die for Us
Indeed, no one was able to take His life, but He was willing to lay down His life. If He did not lay down His life, no one was able to arrest Him and crucify Him because He was so powerful.
Matthew 26:53, “Or do you think that I cannot now pray to My Father, and He will provide Me with more than twelve legions of angels?”
Jesus is so powerful. He was able to call twelve legions of angels, meaning more than 80,000 angels. Whereas one angel who was sent by God was able to kill 185,000 Assyrian soldiers. (Isaiah 37:36)
It was only because of His love for us that He was willing to give Himself to be crucified.
Jesus gave Himself to take our place because it is us who must be punished since we are the ones who committed sins. He became the sacrifice that He died on the cross. His blood was shed as payment to redeem us all.
Our good deeds are worthless, cannot pay for our sins. It is only the blood of Jesus that can pay for our sins.
Isaiah 53: 5, “But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.”
If you need healing miracles, remember this Word of God. Jesus was flogged, then He was bruised before being crucified, and by His stripes, we are healed. Whatever the sicknesses, lay your hand on the part of the body that is sick, let us pray, and believe that this is the time for us to be healed.[yf/hn/em]
