The Word of God preached by Pastor Jacob B Sumbayak with the theme “Speak the word only” taken from Matthew 8 : 5-13 about Jesus heal a Centurion’s slave in Capernaum
Jesus loves everyone
This story told that, when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto Him a centurion, beseeching Him, and saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented.
And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him.
We need to know that this centurion in Capernaum neither an Israelite nor a Jewish religion, but He came to Jesus and asked God to heal his servant who was paralyzed and very recovered. Seeing the attitude of this Roman centurion , Jesus saith unto him, “I will come and heal him.”
Jesus loved everyone very much, He did not look at the condition or situation, both in terms of religion, status, or citizen of a person.
All who believe and come to Jesus, their request will be definetely be granted
Jesus not only wants to grant this Roman centurion requests, even Jesus said “I will come and heal him.”
Jesus, Him self will come to this centurion house to heal his sick and dying servant, though the centurion did not ask Jesus to come.
The extraordinary faith
But the centurion responded with the extraordinary words, “Lord, I am not worthy that Thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.”
This centurion felt unworthy not because his house was not good, as a centurion he must have a high income, but he felt Jesus was so high.
He knew that Jesus had enormous power and authority over humans and nature.
He knew that surely Jesus was not an ordinary human, but came from above, so he is sure, “Thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.”
He knew exactly about the authority or command, that if a boss says “A” then it will definitely be run “A” as he said. As the centurion said “For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.”
Let’s see that this person is not Jewish, but he has a very large trust in Jesus, this centurion believe in Jesus so much, he was sure whatever Jesus said would happen.
When Jesus heard it, He marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.
It was never found in Jews who learned God’s laws
So, believing in Jesus does not mean you have to study God’s books for decades.
Because this centurion who was not an Israeli and was not Jewish, so believe that Jesus has authority
over humans and nature
He really, really believe in Jesus
When brothers and sisters have the attitude as this centurion, then Jesus will come to you.
Whatever words of faith you want. If you come to Jesus and say, “Lord, save me” then He will come to save. If you come and say “Dear Lord Jesus, release me from the oppresive pressing problem, then Jesus will come and give a way out. Because He is able and He has authority.
That is Jesus, as long as we believe we will be save

Only Jesus can atone our sins. Believe as this Roman centurion, then just a word from Jesus, you will be saved and He will heal you. [eva/lyd]
