The online KPPI (Praise and Divine Healing Service) was held again on Thursday, July 2, 2020 through a live stream program on Facebook and YouTube. The Word of God was delivered by Rev. Jacob B. Sumbayak, taken from Luke 7: 11-17 which tells about Jesus raising a young man at Nain.
The Compassion of Jesus is Able to Resurrect Young Man at Nain
The Word of God here tells of Luke 7: 11-17 when Jesus and the disciples arrived in a city called Nain. Not only with the disciples but also the crowd accompanying him in droves. After he arrived near the city gate, a dead man was carried out, a son, his mother’s only widowed mother, and many people from the city accompanied the widow.
We can imagine the condition of the grieve of this widow who lost her only child. At that time, if a woman loses her husband, her inheritance will be passed to her children, but if her son dies and she has no other sons or daughters then she will not get an inheritance, because her inheritance will go to her husband’s family.
This mother will face a difficult time, will not get an inheritance, and her life is only from the compassion of her family and neighbors. Surely this widow’s heart was very sad and at that time many accompanied her to take her child to the funeral.
Seeing the widow’s situation, Jesus had compassion on her. When Jesus saw her, He said to him: “Don’t cry!” While approaching the stretcher of the corpse, he touched it, and said: “Young man, I say to you, get up!”” The dead man sat up and began to talk, and Jesus gave him back to his mother.
No one begged Jesus, not even this mother, to raise her son. So this was only because of Jesus’ compassion to raise the widow’s son. This is the first miracle performed by Jesus raising the dead. An unexpected miracle occurred, even this mother did not expect her son to live, in fact there had never been a story before about the miracle of Jesus raising the dead.
Everyone was shocked, the dead who was already on the way to the burial was resurrected. Everyone was so scared and amazed that they glorified God, saying:“A great prophet has appeared among us,” they said. “God has come to help his people.”
It is very clear that Jesus is God Himself, because He can raise this young man, He uses the power from Himself. He is a child of God, a God who has come into this world. He doesn’t need another name.Jesus is really powerful and He uses power in His own name.
Then word got out about Jesus in all Judea and in the whole surrounding area. The Judeans were surprised because of this. God had come to visit His people. Jesus is very powerful, because he is the Messiah, the Son of God who came into this world
If we read in the next verse in Luke 7: 19-22, then hearing this story John the Baptist sent two people to ask the Lord Jesus: “Are you the one who is to come, or should we expect someone else?” And Jesus answered them: “Go back and report to John what you have seen and heard: The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy[a] are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is proclaimed to the poor.” Jesus wants to say that He is the Messiah, the promised Savior. Jesus is what God promised us.
Will you believe that Jesus is able to redeem us from all our sins? He Himself went the cross to redeem us from all our sins and transgressions. He was willing to die on the cross so that our sins be forgiven, be saved and receive eternal life.
The Word of God in John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. Jesus is very powerful, able to raise the dead. Jesus, who is very compassionate for the life of this widow, is also full of compassion on us so that we will not perish but have eternal life.
Whoever believes that Jesus died on the cross to redeem our lives will be saved. It is no coincidence that we listen to this broadcast because Jesus wants us to believe in His work of salvation on the cross. Have faith that Jesus died for all of us. He really wants us to believe in Him and receive salvation from Him.
For those of you who are sick, Isaiah 53: 5 says that by the stripes of the Lord Jesus, all our illnesses are healed. This is the time to receive the gift of healing if you believe in Him. [YF/EM]
