KPPI (Divine Healing Praise Service) online took place again on Thursday, June 25, 2020 through the Live Streaming program on Facebook and You Tube.

The Word of God was delivered by Rev. Jacob B. Sumbayak, taken from Matthew 15: 21-28 about Canaanite women who believe.

Great is Thy Faith, Be it Unto thee Even as Thou Wilt

At that time Jesus was in the area of Tire and Sidon, a region outside Israel or a foreign area, where non-Jews lived there. Now maybe this is in Lebanon. Then a Canaanite woman came to Jesus.

Who is this Canaanite woman? In Mark 7: 25-26 it says that the woman was a Greek Syro-Phoenician. So he was a Phoenician Syro, part of the Canaanites. They were called Greeks because the people of Tire and Sidon spoke Greek, different from the language of people in Judea or Galilee, in the area of Israel. These Canaanites were the enemies of the Israelites, when they conquered the nations before they occupied Canaan.

This Canaanite woman came and cried out to Jesus, “Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David, because my daughter is possessed by a demon and suffered greatly.”

She called Jesus the Son of David. this is something extraordinary, because she called Jesus the Son of David or the Messiah. This woman kept screaming with the same words and shamelessly, “Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David, because my daughter is possessed by a demon and is suffering greatly.”

This woman was very hopeful of Jesus because her child suffered so much, no one could help get the demons out of her daughter’s body. She might have heard of Jesus in the area of Israel, who could do extraordinary things. So that hope arises, that this person can help her child.

But Jesus did not answer at all. Then His disciples came and asked Him: “Send her away, she follows us shouting.” Then Jesus answered, “I am sent only to the lost sheep of the people of Israel. “But the woman approached and worshiped Him, saying:” Lord, help me.

“But Jesus answered:” It is not appropriate to take the bread that is provided for children and throw it at the dog. “She said:” Yes, Lord, but the dog eat the crumbs that fall from the table of his master. “So Jesus answered and said to him,” O mother, great in your faith, so be as you wish. “And immediately her daughter was healed.

Healing happened to strangers who believed in Jesus. Indeed, Jesus highly valued people who had faith, any nations, even if it was not an Israel. In the conversation it does not mean that Jesus rejected the woman, but Jesus was testing her faith, and it turned out to be her faith. So finally Jesus said: “O woman great is thy faith.”

Although she was not Jewish, but because of her great faith, hr daughter was healed. Can Gentiles have faith? Yes, they can. Like the Roman army commander in Capernaum who trusted Jesus so much. He considered Jesus so big that he felt unworthy when Jesus came to his house. He only said to Jesus, “Just say a word, then my servant will be healed”. So Jesus said, “I have never met such a faith in any of the Israelites. ”

Jesus Really Appreciates Faith, Even though not an Israeli

So even strangers can have faith in Jesus. Likewise when 10 lepers were healed by Jesus, then one person who returned to give thanks was a stranger, namely the Samaritans. Jesus highly respects the faith of anyone even though he is not an Israeli.

So if you want to believe in Jesus, come to Jesus. Maybe you have heard the name of Jesus, believe in Him like the Canaanite woman. Once again, only faith is needed.

Let’s believe in Jesus. Like this woman who really believes that Jesus is the Messiah, son of David, the King who will reign forever. Jesus is the God who descended from Heaven, became a human, to love us. Jesus knew we could not come out of sin, how hard it was for humans to resist sin and never be able to. Therefore God came to atone for our sins, and the payment is His blood. He chose the way of the cross for the sake of his love for us, becoming a penance.

Believe in Jesus, you will be saved. John 3: 16, “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish, but have eternal life.” How happy we are that believe in Jesus, because our salvation is guaranteed by Christ. Even if we die, we will be resurrected in eternity.

Jesus also wants to heal your sickness. Isaiah 53: 5, through His stripes we are healed. He was flogged many times, suffered greatly, but the Word of God said, by His stripes we were healed. Believe in Him like this Canaanite. When she had faith her daughter was healed. Jesus never met her child, He only met with her, but her faith was so great, so the child was healed. If you believe in Jesus, He is able to cure you. It is your faith that heals.[Roy/EM]
