The KPPI Online Service was held again on Thursday, July 23, 2020 through a live-streaming program on Facebook, YouTube and Instagram. The Word of God was delivered by Rev. Jacob B. Sumbayak, taken from Mark 4: 35-1 about Jesus calming the storm.

Winds and Waves Obey Jesus

This Scripture tells us about the miracle that the Lord Jesus performed. You can imagine when the storm went wild, the waves burst into the boat. For those of you who are used to ride a boat or a ship at the sea, you must know how terrible this condition is. In the middle of the sea, in a boat measuring about 7 meters long and 2 meters wide, facing a very powerful storm and waves that are so big, until the water into the boat. Surely this condition is so scary.

But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?” (Mark 4:38) The disciples were so frightened that what came out of their mouth was not asking Jesus to help to stop the waves, but instead they blamed Jesus. It seemed that Jesus did not care and they said, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?” Sometimes when we are afraid, we may even become cowards, blaming others rather than admitting our own fears. This is what the disciples of Jesus did.

Then Jesus got up and rebuked the wind with only two words, “Peace! Be still!” then the wind died down and the lake became very calm. It was such an incredible thing. He stopped the storm when the storm was so great and stopped the waves when the waves were so powerful. This was an amazing miracle.

Jesus has power over nature, the lake, the wind, and also over plants. There is another story in the Bible where Jesus walked and then He got nothing from a fig tree except the leaves and couldn’t find any fruits. And He said to it, “Let no fruit grow on you ever again.” Immediately the fig tree withered away. (Matthew 21:19) Jesus is very powerful over all creations on this earth. All obeyed Jesus’ words. When Jesus said “Peace! Be still!” then the lake became calm and the wind that had been raging died down.

But He said to them, “Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?” And they feared exceedingly, and said to one another, “Who can this be, that even the wind and the sea obey Him!” (Mark 4:40-41)

Jesus, the Son of God, the Saviour Who Redeemed the Sins of Men

Who is this person? He is Jesus, Jesus is the Son of God, the Messiah, the Savior who was promised by the Lord to redeem the sins of His people (Matthew 1:21). And Jesus is the Son of God, in Luke 1:33 it says He will reign as King over His people forever and ever.

Who can redeem sins? Who can forgive sins? Who can be the King forever? Because humans certainly will die, no one can be king forever, even human beings can not reach the age of a hundred years. Who? Only Jesus, because He is the Son of God, the promised Messiah.

He is God who was willing to come down to earth to become a human being like us. When we are tired we must sleep and when we are hungry we must eat. He was just like us. He had to do all of this even though He is God. What for? To be able to redeem our sins. Because no one is able to redeem our sins. We cannot redeem our sins with our good deeds.

Jesus came to redeem our sins. He became a human being, He surrendered Himself to be crucified on the cross because of His love. He became a sacrifice for our sins, receiving all the tortures and severe pain, to redeem our sins. That is Jesus, He wants to die for you and me.

Will you make a decision tonight to believe in Jesus as your Lord and Saviour? The Word of God in John 3:16 says, For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

We will live to eternity, not only 70-80 years. And if we die will be raised by Jesus. The Lord will give us salvation and we will live with God forever.

For those of you who have already believed in Jesus, welcome to the kingdom of God. Because the Word of God in John 1: 12, says, But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name.

Jesus Is the Same, He Healed, Now He Wants to Heal You As Well

Are you sick and wants to be healed? Have faith in Jesus. Jesus is able to heal you. The waves, the lake, and windstorm obeyed Him. Sicknesses were subject to Him. If we read in the Bible, He healed many sick people, He healed the lame, and blind people, even He raised the dead.

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever (Hebrews 13: 8). He is still able to heal us. Isaiah 53: 5 says by His stripes we are healed. Believe that Jesus is able to heal you. By faith receive healing from the Lord now. [YF/EM]
