KPPI (Praise and Divine Healing Service) was held again on Thursday, October 1, 2020. The service was live-streamed through Facebook, You Tube and Instagram. The Word of God was delivered by Rev. Jacob B. Sumbayak, taken from Matthew 14:22-33 about Jesus walking on the water.

Jesus and Peter Walk on the Water

The Word of God that we read above tells of the Lord Jesus telling the crowd to go home. Who was this crowd? They were 5000 men, not including women and children, who have just experienced miracles performed by Jesus.

After He sent the crowd home, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray. He made His disciples get into the boat and go before Him to the other side and Jesus was alone on the mountain to pray.
Matthew 14: 24-27 (NKJV) “But the boat was now in the middle of the sea, tossed by the waves, for the wind was contrary. Now in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went to them, walking on the sea. And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, “It is a ghost!” And they cried out for fear.

We can imagine the conditions, His disciples had been on the boat for hours and were already in the middle of the lake and maybe the land was out of sight. Suppose they left at 8 pm, then it had been 7 hours of rowing the boat against headwind. Then suddenly at 3 p.m., they saw somebody coming walking on the water. What was the situation faced by these disciples? Maybe they were shocked instead of being happy. They were scared and thought it was a ghost coming to them. So, they cried out of fear: “It is a ghost!”

If we were in the middle of the sea at night and it had been hours, then a person walked on the water, maybe we would also think that it was a ghost. Matthew 14:27: But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid.”

And when Peter knew it was God, he overcame his fear, then he asked something extraordinary, he said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.” He wanted the same miracle to happen to him too. This was a supernatural experience and a miracle for Peter, because he walked on the water. Peter wanted to experience a miracle. Therefore he cried out and he might also want to make sure that it was Jesus. Then Jesus said, “Come!” So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water to Jesus. This is indeed a miracle. Jesus only said,”Come!” and Peter believed, so he walked on the water with Jesus.

But when Peter felt the wind blowing, this was not the normal breeze, but a violent and boisterous wind, so he began to be afraid and he began to sink. But in such a condition Peter did not forget to cry out, “Lord, save me!” And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”

Truly You Are the Son of God

Matthew 14:33 (NKJV) “Then those who were in the boat came and worshiped Him, saying, “Truly You are the Son of God.”

We may often encounter this miracle in our life. Oftentimes, God meets us through miracles and unusual way just like Peter. God met Peter in the middle of a lake in a strong wind condition. It’s a miracle. This can happen to us. God meets us in a sudden and unusual way.

There are many testimonies of God meeting someone miraculously. Just like Peter that said “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water,” and God allowed him. Jesus wants those who believe in Him to experience miracles.

If if it is You, Lord, Please Help Me

It could be that God comes to us in a supernatural way, and maybe we are also surprised and don’t think it’s God. If God meets us at this time, then let us cry out, ”Lord, if it is you, please help and save me.”

I have heard the testimony of a person who was about to be hit by a car, then he cried out to God and God helped him. Maybe right now when you hear the Word of God, you feel that God is present. Call on to God and believe in Him, then He will help you.

Why must we believe in Jesus? Who can feed five thousand people with only five loaves of bread and two fish? Who can walk on water and stop a storm? Only Jesus, because Jesus is God Himself. He came down to earth to become flesh. Jesus’ disciples worshiped Him and said that Jesus was the Son of God.

If we believe in Jesus, then we have chosen the right person because we believe in a Son of God. Trust Him, then you will be saved and your sins will be forgiven. John 3:16 says: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

If we believe in Jesus, we will be saved, our sins will be forgiven, and redeemed by His holy blood. Because we cannot pay the debt for our own sins. That is why Jesus came to earth to become human being and He was willing to die for us. It is such a joy if we believe in Jesus because we have been saved. God’s Word in Galatians 3:26 says: “For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.”

By His stripes We Are Healed

Isaiah 53: 5 “But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.

The Word of God says that by His stripes we are healed. Lay your hands on the part of your body that is sick. If you have a heartache or Covid-19, lay your hand on your chest. Lay your hands on the part of the body that is sick. Have faith that miracles of healing will happen to you. [YP/HN/EM]
