The online KPPI (Praise and Divine Healing Crusade) was held again on Thursday, October 8, 2020. The service was a live-streaming Program that was aired through Facebook, YouTube and Instagram.

The Word of God was delivered by Rev. Jacob B. Sumbayak, taken from Mark 4: 35-41 about Jesus calming the storm.

Jesus Calms the Storm

This event tells the story about Jesus with His disciples being in a boat, in addition to the boat Jesus was riding in, there were also other boats. While Jesus was sleeping in the stern, a terrible storm arose and waves crashed into the boat, causing the boat to begin to fill with water. The disciples awoke Jesus up because they had panicked. They were afraid that they would soon sink and die. Indeed the boat was filled with water and was about to sink, the disciples were experienced fishermen and knew they were in danger.

And Jesus arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, “Peace, be still!” Then the wind ceased and there was a great calm. Without pause, after Jesus spoke, the storms stopped and the waves were gone, and the lake became very calm.

We have never heard anyone who ordered the storm to be still and the storm became still. We have never heard of anyone being able to feed 5,000 men, not including women and children only with 5 loaves and 2 fish. We have never heard of anyone being able to feed 4,000 men not including women and children with 7 loaves and a few small fish. We have never heard of anyone being able to resurrect someone who had been dead for 4 days and had been rotten. However, Jesus did all of these.

Who is able to do all of these? Who can subdue and control nature? No one. If a tsunami, an earthquake, or a storm happen, no one is able to prevent them to happen. Humans can only predict storms or prepare themselves to face the storms, but they cannot control and subdue nature. It’s only God who can stop the storms and subdue nature. Jesus is able to do it because He is God Himself.

Jesus is God Himself

Colossians 1:16 “For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him.”

Jesus is God Himself. He is the Son of God who was willing to come down to earth to be human. How humble God was. Jesus was willing to die on the cross to redeem us, not just being humble, but He also showed His great love for us. He was willing to come as a human being, but He was rejected. He was killed and crucified. He became a sacrifice not because He sinned, but in order that we can be saved and have eternal life.

John 1:12 “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name.”

Whoever believes in the name of Jesus has hope and forgiveness of sins. Whoever believes in Jesus, whoever we are, and whatever our condition, whether we are now sick or healthy, rich or poor, whoever believe and accept Him, He has given us the power to become the children of God and our sins are forgiven.

Romans 5: 8 “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

Jesus loves us so much. He forgives us while we were still sinners. Many people want to help others because that person has helped him, but no one wants to help the person who has stabbed him from behind, no one wants to pay debts of the person who has deceived him. But Jesus pay our debts while we were still sinners. He was willing to die for us because He loves us so much and He knows that we cannot atone for our own sins.

John 3:16, John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” Jesus is able to calm the storm because He is God. It is not in vain if we believe in Him. Even though Jesus is powerful, but He is humble because He was willing to die for us while we were still sinners.

By His Stripes We are Healed

If we believe in Jesus then we are given the power to be the children of God and He becomes our Father. As a Father, He wants to bless us and give us what we need. Whatever our illness, God wants to heal us. We can receive healing if only we believe in Him because He gives it freely to those who truly believe in Him. Nothing is impossible for those who believe in Him.

Isaiah 53: 5 “But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.”

All suffering was inflicted on Him. He had stripes by being whipped, but by His stripes we are healed. Lay your hands on the sick part of our body, believe that Jesus is able to heal you. Whatever our sicknesses, Jesus is able to heal us. We are healed by God’s miracle. The Lord Himself heals us. [YF/HN/EM]
