The online KPPI (Praise and Divine Healing Service) took place on Monday, February 15, 2021 through a Live Streaming program that can be watched on Facebook, YouTube and Instagram.
The Word of God was delivered by Rev. Jacob B. Sumbayak, taken from John 6: 1-15 about Jesus feeding the five thousand people.
Jesus Performed a Miracle to Feed Five Thousand People with Five Loaves and Two Fish
Then a great multitude followed Him, because they saw His signs which He performed on those who were diseased. Then He asked Philip, “Where shall we buy bread so that they may eat?” He said this to test him, for he himself knew what he was going to do. (John 6:2,5-6)
Philip had calculated that two hundred dinars would not be enough because 5000 men did not include women and children. If it is assumed that a man brings a wife and one child, then their number is around 15,000. Perhaps in Indonesia, given that the price of a piece of bread is Rp. 4,000 and it takes Rp. 60 million to feed them. So Philip answered him, “Two hundred denarii of bread is not enough for them, even if each one gets a small piece.”
Another disciple, Andreas, learned there was a child, who had five barley loaves and two fish; but that too may not be enough for 15,000 people.
John 6: 10-11, Jesus said, “Have the people sit down.” As for the place there is a lot of grass. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand.
And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them those were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would.
This is an amazing miracle, if 5 loaves for 15,000 people, it means 1 loaf for 3,000 people, it is impossible. But Jesus made it enough for 15,000 people, to eat as much as they wanted, to the fullest, without limitation. There were even 12 full baskets left. There has never been a miracle like this, even in the old covenant.
Jesus Came Not To Be King but To Atone for Human’s Sin
Thousands of people who experienced the miracle wanted to make Jesus king, so Jesus left to the mountain alone. It would have been easy for Jesus to become king because Jesus had already performed miracles. The dead rise, the lame walk, the blind see. Storms and waves obey Him. Jesus has the power to call angels, Jesus can multiply the food. But He went and left because Jesus came into the world not to be the king or leader of a nation, but to be the Savior of mankind.
The way to redeem mankind is by dying on the cross, and this is the most shameful way because Jesus is considered a great criminal. But this is what Jesus wants to do, because this is the only way to atone for human sin.
Jesus is so humble, He teaches us to pray for our enemy, to forgive those who sin against us. Jesus’ teaching is full of love because He is love so that people are peaceful and do not feel resentment.
Matthew 5: 43-44, You have heard the saying: Love your neighbor and hate your enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
Jesus taught us to love and pray for our enemies. So that the person Jesus touched would get touched because he felt the love of Jesus. God is not cruel, God came to love men.
John 3:16, For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
No Matter How Great Our Sins, Jesus is Able to Forgive
Who wants to believe in Him? Today if you believe in Him then your sins are forgiven. You may say that your sins are great, very shameful, but that is exactly why Jesus came into the world.
Isaiah 1:18, Come, let us reason together! – says the LORD – Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
That is forgiveness from Jesus. If your sin is so great, and it is difficult to get out of the bond of sin, even if you have done charity here and there, but you are still under the bondage of sin. Who can free us from this body of sin? Only Jesus. He died on the cross to replace us.
Romans 6: 6, Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
When Jesus was crucified, then we can believe that the body of sin, our old man was also crucified with Jesus. The power of sin is gone, and we are freed from sin. Maybe we have done good, but honestly, it can not free us from this body of sin. We become afraid if we die then where would we go.
But Jesus died on the cross to pay for our sins, that is the work of Jesus’ redemption, so He is called the Savior.
Jesus’ Stripes Heal Us
Those who are sick and want to be healed by God, believe that Jesus is able to do it. Like this Word of God, Jesus was able to perform a miracle by multiplying five loaves and two fishes. Jesus also resurrected Lazarus, who had been dead for four days. He is willing to heal all your diseases.
Isaiah 53:5, But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.
Who was stabbed? Jesus was. Who was crushed? Jesus was. And by His stripes we become healed. Even today and forever, He is still able to perform miracles. Because He lives and He has the power to heal.
You can lay your hands on the sick part, trust in the Lord Jesus, and you will be healed. [rs/hn/em]
